  • Research on the behaviour of ash-forming elements in biomass combustion / gasification processes and their influencing parameters
  • Aerosol formation and characterisation as well as possibilities of efficient aerosol precipitation in biomass combustion and gasification plants
  • High-temperature thermodynamic equilibrium calculations for ash-forming elements and their compounds in biomass combustion and gasification plants
  • Development of new biomass combustion, gasification and pyrolysis technologies
  • Development of close-to-zero-emission biomass combustion technologies for different biomass fuels (key focus on dust and NOx)
  • Development and demonstration of innovative small-scale biomass CHP technologies (ORC process, screw-type engine, fixed bed gasification, fuel cells)
  • Development and optimization of process control systems for biomass combustion and CHP plants
  • Mechanisms of deposit formation and corrosion in biomass combustion plants
